Feeling anxious – When should I be concerned?

Anxiety is a normal response to the challenges of our busy lives. Trying to fit everything in and yet still have time to ‘smell the roses’ can be difficult. Overwhelm and stress are the result with feelings of anxiety, especially where we are answerable to the demands of others.

When is the feeling of anxiety ok in terms of motivating us to act to fulfill our responsibilities and reach our goals and when is a cause for concern?

If you have been feeling anxious for some time or experiencing panic attacks where your chest is tight, breathing is rapid, your palms are sweaty and you are filled with dread, it is time to take action. The first step is to stop and ask yourself some important questions, such as:

  • What is going on here?
  • What is happening in my life that contributes to me feeling out of control?
  • What am I ignoring that I must address?
  • What am I afraid of?
  • What help do I need to answer these and other important questions about my life?

Working with a skilled and sympathetic psychologist can help you find ways, not only to remove panic reactions but identify and address their cause. See this as an investment in this precious thing called Your Life.
